Consider, for example, the reflective sunlight that shines on water, the beach, garden tiles or snow. Sunglasses with polarized lenses eliminate these glare and ensure that glare and discomfort are reduced and your little one can see better. Of course, these polarized lenses are also UV400 protected (category 3) and offer 100% protection against UVA and UVB rays.

General
Why do I have to protect my child's eyes extra from the sun?
- The sun contains UV radiation and children's eyes are more vulnerable to UV radiation and a lot of light than adults. The children's pupil is larger and the lens of the eye contains less protective pigment. Too much sunlight can cause permanent damage to the eyes. Good protection is therefore very important for babies and children: polarized UV-400 protective sunglasses. A baby's face should be kept in the shade at all times and it is advised to protect their eyes with good sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
From what age do children need to wear sunglasses to be protected from UV radiation?
- The younger the child, the more vulnerable their eyes are to UV radiation. Their pupil is larger and their eye lens contains less protective pigment. Babies in particular need to be well protected. A baby's face should be kept in the shade at all times and it is advised to protect their eyes with good sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
Why do I need to protect my child's eyes against blue light while watching television or when he/she is on the smartphone?
- Nowadays we come into contact with a screen more and more, this applies to both adults and children. We have laptops, computers, tablets, mobile phones, etc.. However, we often forget that this also demands a lot from our eyes. Excessive exposure to blue light can cause problems falling asleep at night and contribute to eye strain. For example, the blue light coming from a screen makes our brains believe that it is daytime. Screen use can also lead to headaches and eyestrain. That is why it is important to protect the eyes with blue light blocking glasses, the Goodcha Screen Timer glasses for kids!
Does wearing a cap or hat provide adequate protection for my child?
- A cap or hat with a wide brim only protects against direct UV radiation, but it does not protect against indirect UV radiation that reflects off the ground, walls and water. On the beach under a parasol, for example, 15% of the UV radiation will penetrate through reflection. Polarized UV-400 protective sunglasses are therefore strongly recommended.
When is the UV radiation strongest?
- UV radiation is strongest in the summer months, between 12 pm and 3 pm.
